The legend is that Rama, the hero of the Ramayana, built a bridge linking India to Sri Lanka for Hanuman to lead an army to rescue Rama's wife Sita. It is near the Sri Lankan end of the bridge where you will begin your journey. You will spend 22 days in this breathtaking landscape. Located amongst the coconut trees, imagine waking up each morning surrounded by nature the lagoon and gardens and the blue Indian ocean nearby, the sun beats down and your spirit is swept up by the wind.

Kalpitiya

Once a functioning coconut estate, this is your own little piece of paradise in Kalpitiya, set amongst 10 acres of tropical trees and gardens and a wonderful lagoon right on the ocean. Everything you see in the resort, including the placements of each rock in the garden, is to ensure that your presence does not adversely impact the environment. The resort is committed to recycling and the use of sustainable materials.

You can also visit Wilpattu National Park to enjoy a safari trip within the largest and oldest national park in Sri Lanka. Its main attractions are leopards and sloth bears, but you might spot, peacocks, monkeys, buffalos, elephants, wild boar, crocodile, turtle, land monitor, and many kind of birds.

From Colombo International airport, the journey is only about 3 hours to the resort.

Beach Life

Depending on your budget and whether you want to share a room or have private accommodation, there are various accommodation options.

Some of the Lagoon view bungalows have enclosed washrooms, others open-air, cement for the floors gives them a nice cool feel. You have an option of air-conditioning or fan only. Twin share or private room basis.

These bungalows all have a private terrace area. There is also a built platform overlooking the water where you can grab a book and read under the shade of the Sooriya trees. Enjoy observing the wildlife that looms in the lagoon in front - birds, fish, and crabs. Occasionally, you can witness the traditional fishermen using the lagoon.

Nights are amazing with stunning sunsets and starry skies.
