Yoga Alliance Teacher Training/ Formation Prof Yoga
Upon successful graduation, you will be able to register as RYT200 (Registered Yoga Teacher 200hr) with Yoga Alliance. Our class sizes are small and friendly to ensure maximum learning. Please visit the homepage for current training dates. What you will learn during this training:
Hatha-Vinyasa or flow and Kundalini Chakra are our primary yoga styles. We also explore ashtanga yoga which is great for training and some of the other gentler forms of yoga. During the training you will also be introduced to prenatal, children's yoga and yoga for older adults. You will need further training if you wish to specialize in these other styles.
The Yoga Alliance curriculum covers the following areas of learning:
Techniques, Training and Practice
Asana (modifications and adaptations)
Subtle Body work (nadis and chakras)
teaching multi-level participants
communication, cuing and adjustments
introduction to yoga for special populations: older adults, pregnant women, children
Anatomy and Physiology

Introduction to business and marketing
Yoga Philosophy, History and Humanities
Introduction to the Yoga Sutra (Patanjali)
introduction to the the Vedas, Upanishads and ancient practices
Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita
Introduction to ayurveda and jyotish/indian astrology
Autobiography of a Yogi (Paramahansa Yogananda)
Practicum (at the minimum for each training, each student will deliver a 30 minute classes and a 1 hour class)
The yoga teacher training provided by Awake Space primarily treats yoga as a spiritual practice and uses a combination of hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga and kundalini to train future yoga teachers. It also uses various relaxation techniques, mantra and meditation techniques as well as simply meditating with Presence.
Respect and knowledge of ancient traditions combined with modern methods and knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics are very important to the school. Its objective is to train holistic and multidimensional teachers.
First Week of Training : Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics
Key information : What are the factors that affect flexibility? How can we avoid injury during yoga practice? What are the benefits of yoga and meditation on the nervous system, digestive system, cardiovascular system and health and fitness in general?
Second Week of Training : Teaching Methodology and Creating a Professional Practice
Key information : Keep students safe, learn to modify postures and adapt them to different students; Be able create class sequences; Effectively plan yoga classes for different levels and utilise different styles; Learn how to effectively communicate with potential and existing clients, start and retain a professional practice.
Third Week of Training : Yoga History and Philosophy
Key information : What are the main ancient texts of yoga and what do they tell us about yoga? How has the practice of yoga changed through the years? What were the goals of the ancient yogis and how did they live and think differently from the modern practitioner?

As part of your own personal and spiritual evolution, we will be offering art therapy sessions (starting 2024 at Chateau de Montcuquet). This gives you another avenue of expression that can enable you to release deep and emotional charge without having to use words. Art therapy can help you get in touch with the deepest parts of you for release and to facilitate further freedom.
One year of experience or 52 classes (in-person with a live teacher). If you are not confident in your practical skills, you can consider taking our online course, before enrolling in the in-person teacher training. If you do not wish to teach yoga but wish to deepen your knowledge and practice, please consider joining a retreat instead.
Preparing for the Course
Here are some things to do to prepare yourself for the course:
*If you do not yet have a regular meditation practice yet, please start now (about 7-10 minutes a day for beginners, 10-20minutes a day for progressing students).
*Please read The Yoga Sutras of Master Patanjali (I recommend the commentaries by Swami Sachidananda) and the Bhagavad Gita (I suggest that you read this in full and original text instead of commentary) and finally the Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda

For Biarritz: Weekends are free. The 200hr is completed with a combination of in person classes and online materials
